Top Places to Visit in 2018

Spring is just around the corner and your still trying to figure out Summer vacation plans…

Need some Travel-inspiration?

Here are the most “trending” places to visit this year. From major cities, tropical isles,  remote locations and places dreams are made of.

Scroll through the list below and comment if you plan to visit one of the 8! (not in any particular order)

South America’s hottest destination, over taking Peru’s Macchu Picchu. Chile has a vast  area of terrain to cover. From the Atacama Desert, known as the driest desert on earth to the fjords and wondrous mountain ranges in Patagonia. {Which as you know from a previous post is on my go-to list and was my destination for this year until plans fell through}.  Take your planing seriously on this one and remember that Patagonia is only a region between Chile and Argentina, so make sure you know which side you want to visit!

Japan: Tokyo

Known for Harajuku girls and a mass following of all things kawaii (cute). Tokyo is one of the largest cities in the world and is home to Shibuya Crossing, the busiest intersection ever! With great food from the likes of slurping ramen and sake to mastering the art of chopsticks, there is no time to rest in this bustling city of robots and neon lights. Make your way out of Tokyo and head South to Kyoto for a chance to spot a geisha and sip matcha tea while taking in the silence of a zen garden.

Arizona: Sedona, Horseshoe Bend, Antelope Canyon

The desert isn’t always full of cacti and sand. Arizona has gained popularity over the years as people started venturing away from the Grand Canyon. You’ll find amazingly beautiful landscapes all around, even 2 hours South of the GC. Drive down to Sedona where Red rocks and towering landscapes make you think you left planet earth or book an appointment to see canyons all colors of the rainbow. If you just can’t handle the GC, it’s a short drive from Antelope canyons to Horseshoe Bend where you will be blown away {literally}. Need more reasons to visit Arizona?

Morocco: Marrakech

Whether you call it Marrakech or Marrakesh, if you are looking to escape the “normal” vacation of sun, sand and all things beachy; then you may want to make your way to the continent of Africa. Here you’ll find an oasis of color and vibrant patterns along every path you walk in Marrakech. You’ll find most people doting over tapestries and rugs. Who can blame them when they are this beautiful. Another of instagrams favorite places to be photographed, but if you just can’t leave vacation without sand or water, venture out on a camel excursion or lounge by a brightly patterned pool.

Turkey: Cappadocia

Cappadocia, Turkey

Dreams live here. You may have seen photos of Cappadocia scattered around the internet with all those hot air balloons and tented rock formations. It’s real and it’s really beautiful. The weather here is perfect to launch hot air balloons almost daily. Yes, Daily. Grab your sweetie and snuggle up cliffside to watch the magic happen. Dine in caves and don’t miss out on the whirling dervishes!

Known to be the new “Iceland,” people are moving by the droves to get here. One of the most remote places on earth and least inhabited of all the continents, but remember to leave the place better than you found it. Scientist are going out of their way to ensure that Antarctica is preserved. On the other hand, you can also rent a bio-dome on the research base. It’s not 5 star, but you may learn some new skills!

French Polynesia: Bora Bora

Bora Bora

OH, they honeymoon capitol of the world. French Polynesia is more than just the island of Bora Bora. There are 118 islands that make up French Polynesia, they are all amazing, but difficult to get to… so pack your bags for three trips (one to get there, one there and one to get back)! You’ll likely go though Tahiti first, and take a smaller plane to your next destination. If you want to visit Bora Bora, but don’t want to be Bora Bored- opt to visit Moorea, the island is little larger, more accessible and offers plenty of activities other than laying in an overwater bungalow, but don’t fret… More still offers overwater bungalows! For more inspiration see the overwater bungalow from our Trip to Moorea, Tahiti.

Hawaii: Maui

Speaking of Islands… Why not travel to Hawaii? Yes it’s beautiful, and yes it’s cheaper than French Polynesia. What’s the holdup? There are 8 islands that make up Hawaii, with the most visited being: Oahu, Hawaii (Big Island), Kauai and Maui. Take my advice, Maui is stunning. The island is just small enough to drive it from end to end in one day, but you’ll want more than a day to see all Maui has to offer. Whether you are viewing it from the ocean or the sky, you will wish vacation could last forever. See Maui for more inspiration.
